A couple things I forgot to mention in my last post:
- I took down the post containing the excerpt from my w.i.p. I told myself I wasn’t going to leave it up for longer than a day. I’ve been advised by a few people to not even post it to begin with. You can never be too careful with some of the lurkers on the internet. Some people are more than willing to steal your stuff and claim it as their own. I’m very protective of this story. I’m sorry for all of those who didn’t get the chance to read it.
Look at it this way, some day you will in it’s completion! And if you really want to read some of my writing, check out the “Samples of Work: Stories” tab above. There’s an excerpt from a short story I wrote in college there, waiting for you to read! Enjoy! - In a few weeks, I plan on hosting this blogs very first “Blog Fest”! Once I get everything set, I will officially make a post where you can sign up, but again, it won’t be for a few weeks. This is just a heads up for any who may be interested, so keep checking back for the details. I promise it will be worth it.
I think that’s it. I hope everyone is having great luck with whatever project they are working on! Let us all know how it’s going and if you’re having trouble, feel free to rant in a comment. I’ll listen and try to help if I can.

I understand what you’ve been told, I haven’t posted my first chapter either for that reason!
And I’ve read of authors who have been plagiarized on sites like Fiction Press, so all this is VERY complicated… something I have tried to figure out myself – but couldn’t!

Yeah, I’ve heard of that as well. Those sites always try to make you feel comfortable about posting your work, but I’ve always been wary of doing so. It is very complicated. There are just so many different things for writers to understand so they don’t get ripped off or whatever. You have copyright laws, agents, publishers, etc. And people say being a writer is easy haha.
Your link was quite useful though!
Thanks for sharing that particular entry.
