These past few weeks, I have made great progress with the current w.i.p. I think I average about 2000-4000 words a day (and I do try to write every day). It’s surprised a lot of people and they wonder how I do it. I’m not sure I know how to explain it, but I just write when I feel like it. I don’t force myself to write. If it happens, it happens.
But, sometimes when you least expect it….. you hit the wall. There could be various reasons for it: writer’s block, illness, other obligations that you try to get out of but can’t. I always tell people not to bother me when I’m writing unless they’re bleeding profusely or something (morbid probably..). You try to avoid these things, but sometimes they show up anyways.
So, yesterday, it happened. I woke up feeling like crap. That’s right, those awful flu-like symptoms were starting to rear their ugly little heads which brought upon the wall. It felt like brick. There was no way I was going to get any writing done yesterday and that sucked. But what can you do when you feel like hell ran over you several times with a huge truck? Nothing but gulp down as much Vitamin C as you can and get the rest that you need.
Today, I feel a little better. The wall isn’t as impenetrable as it was yesterday. I don’t think I’ll do much writing but I’ll probably plot out the sequel to this w.i.p. Hopefully, people like the first book enough to read the sequel but we’ll worry about that later…. way later.
So if you hit the wall, relax. Take a breather and it’ll get back to you.
I really should hire a personal masseuse though… that would be handy.

I have some recent blogs on the block, as well. It does come back.
hope you feel better.
Thank you.
Hey, I hit that same wall. Feel like crap. It sucks because I don’t get sick often and when I do, I go above and beyond the call of duty. -.- All I want is my hubby to pamper me, but he’s at work and I have an idea I want to get done ASAP.
I know the feeling. Nobody wants to pamper me today. Bunch of haters lol. Hopefully drinking a whole bunch of orange juice will help… I hope.
Nicely done, that is some serious writing!
I usually hit the wall after a big creative outburst. Sounds like you’re just a little under the weather. Once you get better you will continue to make me look bad
Haha thank you. Yeah, I’m a bit under the weather. Just feeling a bit achy today but with enough Vitamin C in my system, I should be alright tomorrow.
I don’t know about making anyone look bad though… I just write when I can.
Writer’s block stinks. Feeling like crap stinks worse. Hopefully you are feeling better today! If the OJ didn’t work, try again with some tequila added. The way my wip is going (slowly,) however, I may be buying all the tequila in town so you may have to find an alternative…
Haha I’ll keep that in mind.
Slowly but surely the OJ is working… along with a nice gargle with warm salt water twice a day haha. Gross but what can you do?
I wish I were so diligent. 2K a day is really good. I find it really is something I have to sit down and make myself do but when I do… I surprise myself at what comes out. My problem is that I have to be in a certain mindset. to writing certain pieces. I’ve tried writing before work, or writing during lunch but once I’m in the zone, I’ve got this flow that is hard to turn off. I tell myself I haven’t found my rhythm yet. Do you have a certain time of the day that you write? Do you write part time or full time?
At the moment, I write full time. I found I write the best when I start mid-morning/early afternoon. If I wait until the evening, I’m too tired and don’t care lol. Some days I have great rhythm and can just go for it, other days I don’t have much steam. Just depends. I like to average 2k a day only because I want to finish this book by the beginning of November. We’ll see how that goes lol
