This week we’re going to have a couple of guest posts for you all to enjoy. If you want to join in on the guest posting here, don’t hesitate to e-mail me at thestoryinme@gmail.com with your idea.
I had posted something yesterday about preparing for NaNoWriMo this year, but I guess my blog hated it because it deleted it. Let’s just say, I’m not exactly prepare for the month long novel writing fest, but I’m trying. I know people are already researching and plotting, but not me. Not yet. I know what I’m writing about. I have some of the characters in my head. I just haven’t done “character sketches” for them which is something I always do before I write any story.
I always like to be somewhat prepared for any story I write. Last year for NaNoWriMo (which is National Novel Writing Month for those who don’t know), I wasn’t prepared. I went in thinking I was going to “wing it” and ended up lasting about two weeks before my story fell flat. I hit the wall and I couldn’t get around it. I had no support. Nobody I talked to was participating in this so I couldn’t really vent to anyone. So I gave up.
Not this year. This year, I’m going into November, more prepared than ever. I know where my story is about and where it’s going. I already know quite a few people from Twitter who are also “NaNoWriMo-ers” so I know I have a support system who also want to see me succeed. I’m going to hit that 50,000 word finish line by November 30th. You just wait.
I’ll keep everyone updated throughout November on how things are going. I’ll need all the support I can get, but I think this will help me discover a new side of writing. I’ve heard this makes you become more familiar with your writing which is something I need. Thankfully I have people looking over my first book for edits while I work on the next one haha. That’s a nice relief. Am I still nervous about the whole idea of doing this again? Yes. Am I feeling a bit overwhelmed already? Absolutely, but this is something I have to do.
Now I’m off to do some character sketches. If you’re also doing NaNoWriMo this year, let’s be writing buddies haha.

I’m not doing NaNoWritMo, but I’ll be your cheerleader if you need one. =D
Aw, thanks! I’ll definitely need a few lol. I’m kinda scared, but I’m pretty determined.
I’m preparing as well and just blogged about the same thing this morning. ;0) Best of luck to you!
Haha that’s awesome. I think a lot of people are probably blogging about the same thing right now. It’s getting close. Good luck to you as well!
Best of luck, Melissa *hi five*
Thank you! Best of luck to you too!
Good luck with your planning and also with your novel in November! I’ll cheering you on as I write my novel.
Thanks! It’ll be good to have you cheering me on. I’ll be cheering you on as you write your novel! Best of luck!!
You know where you’re going? That’s fantastic! Many people can’t say the same… And thanks for offering this great opportunity to spread the love. I’ll do my best to spread it further.
Thanks.
I appreciate the promotions!
I mean right now, I know where I’m going with it. Whether that stays the same in November, well, we’ll see haha
I just blogged about NaNo as well. I have the character sketches in my mind already, from a previous concept that never materialized. Now I am just outlining a plot to see if 50k is work-able. I’m one for two in NaNoWriMo, being successful last year. Best of luck to you and feel free to vent anytime!
That’s great that you were successful last year. I was not. Not even close haha. I need to do a little plot outline later after I get home. We’ll see how it goes.
I’ll definitely vent next month. I have a feeling that’s going to happen.

Hey I’m Jess and I’m also doing NaNo this year
It is really overwhelming, the thought of 1,667 words a day, for one whole month. I already have an outline and character sketches, though everything’s still unfinished. I still have doubts if I will make it but I am determined to do so!
Let’s be buddies
I can understand how that word count can intimidate anyone, especially if you have to do it for a whole month, but it is possible. Just make sure to give yourself writing rewards for when you do manage it and I think that will help motivate you.
It is possible!
I’d love to be writing buddies. Do you have a profile on the nanowrimo site?

Another NaNo novelist here, a NaNoVet in fact. I’m going to give a shot to the post-a-day challenge, I think.
That’s great.
I did NaNo last year but I didn’t win. Maybe this will be my year.
I hope.
