Yeah, I realize I have already posted but this is too important to put aside.  I hope at whatever time you are reading this today, you have your party hat on! Why? Because it’s Paul McCartney’s birthday! That’s Sir Paul McCartney from The Beatles, mind you. 🙂

I know that this post pretty much has nothing to do with writing.  However,  as I’ve mentioned before in my post, “There Will Be An Answer“, The Beatles helped inspire the writer I am today. Their songs help shape my creativity and fuel my writing.

Paul is my favorite Beatle. Why? Well, there are a few reasons:

  1. He’s an amazing songwriter
  2. He’s an activist.
  3. Seriously, have you ever listened to “Blackbird“? If not, you should.
  4. Lastly, he’s freaking adorable. Really.

I’m serious when I say he’s adorable. Even as an older man, he’s adorable.  When people hear that, they ask me why in the world I think that way. I don’t really have an answer. He just is.  So, let’s celebrate Sir Paul McCartney’s 68th birthday today by singing their quite catchy song “Birthday” with our party hats on and doing whatever kind of birthday dance you want to do. That’s entirely up to you. 🙂

I bet John and George were still alive, they would party it up with the birthday boy.

P.S.: I’m well aware that I can be quite the Beatles and Paul McCartney “fan girl”. I’m okay with that.

No matter how frustrated I may get during the day, there is always one song that can help get me out of it. I’ve been a huge Beatles fan for a long time now. The first song I heard by them was “A Hard Days Night”. Of course, I was pretty much the only student in my high school that listened to them, but I really liked to be different. While the others listened to country, I was jamming to The Beatles and punk/rock.

“Let It Be” is the one song that pulls me out of any sort of negative mood I may be in. There’s something calming about the music and the lyrics are very inspirational. There have been dark days when nothing was going right, and I felt so alone in what I wanted to do. I remember “Let It Be” came on and Paul McCartney started to sing. I sat back in my seat and just listened to the music. All of my doubts went away with six simple words:

“Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.”

Sometimes, things don’t always go the way you want them to. Life can take a wrong turn and you have to work hard to get back to the road you are destined to go on. All I have to do is remember that no matter what hardships come my way, it’s all going to be alright. The Beatles taught me that, you know. there is just so much strength in standing up and letting things be the way they are right now. I wish I had the answers people want. But, I don’t. And it hurts to know there are going to be people out there that I can’t help. They are hurting so bad and need relief. I’m just that kind of person. That’s why my books are going to have a purpose.. a meaning.

I have to thank The Beatles for inspiring me to be better, to be patient and know that things will be okay. Of course, not only do I love them for their music, but I’ll be honest, I have a serious crush on Paul McCartney haha.

“And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light that shines on me,
Shine until tomorrow, let it be.”

Is there a song that helps inspire you or gets you out of a dark mood? What does it mean to you?
